Things To Do This Weekend In Singapore (12th – 14th April)

fomoIt seems like everyone’s going to be in town this weekend, with the upcoming HSBC World Rugby 7s finals and the opening of mega New York Club Marquee. Even the KitKat Chocolatory crew is in town to share their massive love for chocolate, inspired by our own local flavors. Who’s up for a busy, busy weekend?
1. KitKat Chocolatory Pop-Up Store with limited edition flavors like Singapore Chilli Crab, Salted Egg Yolk and more!

KitKat’s known for their huge range of flavors ranging from sake to pudding and now Singapore’s getting its own set of limited edition flavors! Be prepared for Chilli Crab, Salted Egg Yolk, Chendol, Durian, Milk Tea Rosé, and even a vague-sounding Kopitiam Breakfast-flavored KitKat which looks like it can be anything from kaya toast, egg or coffee according to the image. Head down to the pop-up KitKat Chocolatory at VivoCity to get these flavors and also get a first peek at the new KitKat Ruby Chocolate that is made from pink cocoa beans. Only 100 packs of the KitKat Ruby Chocolate is available so get there early if you want to be the first to eat pink chocolate.

2. Gardens By The Bay Floral Fantasy

Gardens By The Bay has added another permanent floral display in addition to their current Flower and Cloud domes which will open on Sunday. Floral Fantasy is a 360° whimsical garden, with floral displays lining the walkways and hanging from the ceilings. The exhibit is made up of 4 different gardens and also houses a poison dart frog vivarium. Get a single entry ticket, and bundle ticket packages for all three conservatories are available too. Early bird tickets are now on sale, and are valid until 13 May so get booking your tickets even if you aren’t heading down this weekend.

3. ArtScience Museum: Wonderland

Fall down the rabbit hole at ArtScience Museum’s upcoming exhibition revolving around our favourite curious girl Alice as she ventures into Wonderland. The immersive exhibition was developed by Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), and takes visitors into the magical world of Alice through theatrical sets, eye-catching props and secret doorways. And of course, join the iconic Mad Hatter’s Tea Party brought to life by digital projections.

4. Marquee Singapore’s Grand Opening Weekend

Literally taking partying to new heights is Marquee Singapore, the latest club to open its doors in Singapore. New York nightclub will be taking over the basement at The Shoppes in Marina Bay Sands and bringing all the fun over for a show-stopping weekend. The Grand Opening weekend this week sees Tiesto, Afrojack and A$AP Rocky headlining the decks, and plenty of other celebrities and singers are heading to town for the opening too. The club will span 3 stories and even has an indoor ferris wheel to get above all the action. Their explosive lineup for the next one month is no joke either, with Above and Beyond, Steve Aoki, Kaskade, and Showtek all set to guest DJ in the next couple of weekends.

5. PetExpo 2019

Bring your fur kids for a fun day out at the annual PetExpo! Stock up on health and wellness products and snacks, indulge in fashionable statement pieces, or attend a talk or workshop with a pet. There’s even Therapeutic Massage for Dogs workshop so that you can deepen your born with your doggo whilst relaxing him at the same time. 6. HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens 2019

Singapore is once again hosting the World Rugby Sevens Series, where the best of the best rugby teams from all around the world compete for the crown of best Rugby Seven team. While the action on the green is the main attraction, there are also plenty of fringe activities to make the entire event a memorable one for the whole family. Free DreamWorks movie screenings and meet and greet sessions with Shrek will keep the young ones entertained, and meme lords online might make an appearance to watch Smash Mouth, the band behind the smash songs “All Star” and “I’m A Believer”. All tickets to the Rugby 7s also get free entry to Splash-N-Surf at the rooftop of Kallang Wave Mall with water slides and raft rides as you splash to tunes by Joie Tan and Joshua Simon.

8. DE Songkran Music Festival

Everyone knows that the Thai put on a splashing good party, and especially so for the annual Songkran festival. If you’re not heading to Thailand this weekend and feeling a little #fomo, you can head to Wild Wild Wet’s Songkran Festival. The water park will be hosting their own water gun party, with Quintino at the decks as you bob along to the beat in the Tsunami Pool with explosive water visual effects. When you drink enough and get thoroughly soaked, it’ll feel almost the same as being on the streets of Bangkok at the S20 Festival.

9. Little Po 小坡

In shades of bubble tea and blue, this new bubble tea store is the next hipster drink store to join the stretches of Haji Lane. While Little Po has your usual Earl Grey teas and brown sugar pearls, you might want to be a little more adventurous with your options like smoky lapsang souchong and spiced masala chai. You can also choose up to three toppings from their varied selection which includes freshly made boba, mashed yam and egg pudding. The coffee selection is also very adventurous, with avocado “chocoffee”, Oreo cheesy coffee and banana mocha. For creamy goodness, get their smoothies – we’ve got our eye on the milky yam drink. If you work within 2km of Haji Lane, Little Po will also deliver their teas and coffees straight to your doorstep.

10. Rewild Our Planet

Together with WWF, Google, PHORIA and Netflix, ArtScience Museum’s next exhibit follows nearly extinct species and most at-risk habitats to bring to light the urgent need to restore the natural habitats of the world. Oh, and the entire documentary is voiced by David Attenborough so it’ll make you feel like you’re walking through a BBC Earth documentary.
