What else brings a group of people together better than food? Straying away from the usual hotel takeaway options, we have found several local cafes and restaurants that have some pretty good festive food to offer. From the must have turkeys, log cakes and honey baked ham, to the lesser known classic pecan pie, traditional Austrian fruitcake, and even a beef wellington, we have all sorts of treats that will complete your Christmas party.
1. La’Bonnie Patisserie
This humble local bakery offers a classic chocolate log cake or classic vanilla matcha log cake at $38 each, a more daring option would be the rainbow log cake ($60) that would surely please the kids. They also have the traditional fruit cake loaf as pictured ($38) and a trio of gingerbread man, gingerbread girl & Christmas tree ($12). Desserts would not be complete without some festive themed cupcakes in red velvet and chocolate ($48 for 12) and a box of mini cakes ($48) as some light bites.
Orders should be made 3 days in advance and delivery or pick-up are available.
2. Fabulous Baker Boy
You can tell from its name that you will be getting some pretty good baked treats from The Fabulous Baker Boy. Their classic Red Velvet Log Cake (8″ at $65$, 11″ at $90) is a sure hit, or you can try their Valrhona Chocolate ginger loaf ($30) if you like something with more kick and spice. The traditional fruit cake ($40) is filled with raisins, currants, apricots, cranberries, cherries and brandy and their Ms Aretha cake ($90) is a spiced pumpkin sponge with burnt butter ganache. 3. Antoinette
Purveyor of fine cakes and pastries, Antoinette has come up with some surprising sweet and savoury treats this year. First up, their cookie Christmas tree consists of almond and candied orange cookies with Gingerbread spice. How festive does that look? Next, the Hivernette is country bread drizzled with olive oil, onion marmalade, tomato jam, wild mushroom ragout, red wine braised wagyu beef brisket, mustard butter, cornichon, and beetroot cream cheese chantilly – a medley of flavours that is definitely a luxourious indulgence. What takes the cake is their Red Rosette – a chocolate cake coated in light chocolate ganache, orange confit, almond nougatine, and dark chocolate chantilly.

Their signature cake, the Kaisertorte ($68) – Emperor’s Cake – is a decadent cacao cream cake with layers of hazelnut meringue, chocolate shavings and marzipan.
