@shout.sg The highly-anticipated Oriental Kopi is finally open in Singapore! Get their signature foamy Kopi, thick egg tarts, buttery polo buns & more, with prices starting from an affordable $1.80! Oriental Kopi Singapore Date: 27th November 2024 onwards Address: 200 Victoria St, 02-50, Singapore 188021
Oriental Kopi is most known for their thick and custardy egg tarts, buttery polo buns, ultra gao Nanyang-style coffee and affordable mains; drawing snaking queues at their JB outlets. We’re told that the Singapore menu is exactly the same as the one in Malaysia; and taste-wise also pretty much identical to the original.
Hot Oriental Kopi, $2
Cold Oriental Kopi, $3.50
Oriental Ice Mocha, $4.50
Kopi Butter, $2.50
Must-orders include their foamy Oriental Kopi (from $2) that comes in both hot and cold options, but we definitely recommend going for their cold version so you get that signature velvety foam on top. The kopi itself is addictively sweet, super gao and robust with a delightful bitterness. For those who like something more chocolatey, you can also opt for their Oriental Ice Mocha ($4.50). Or for something more unique, try the Kopi Butter ($2.50) that comes with a small slab of butter you can mix in for a more aromatic and smooth flavour.
Oriental Polo Bun, $4.60
Curry Double Lava Egg Toast, $4.60
For food, their Signature Egg Tarts ($5.20 for 2pcs) are definitely a must-get, loved for their ultra thick and custardy center. Their Oriental Polo Bun ($4.60) is also a fan-favourite and a record holder for being the most-sold polo bun in Malaysia—not a surprise considering how crunchy and buttery the bun is. The signature polo bun comes as a DIY set with 2 thick, ice-cold slabs of butter and condensed milk that you can add to your liking. We also liked how deliciously spicy and flavourful the curry sauce that came with the Curry Double Lava Egg Toast ($4.60) was.
Oriental Nasi Lemak, $9.50
Penang Char Kway Teow, $7.50
There’s also an extensive variety of main dishes you can try, but the standout has got to be the Oriental Nasi Lemak ($9.50) that comes with a perfectly battered and tasty crispy chicken leg, fragrant coconut rice and topped with a jammy egg. The Penang Char Kway Teow ($7.50) was also pretty decent, though we felt it could do with more wok hei.
As for the price, of course we can’t expect the same prices as in Malaysia, and items are priced slightly higher in the Singapore outlet. But across the board, prices for food and drinks are still pretty affordable, with drinks as low as $1.80 and main dishes mostly priced under $10 each. There’s also a retail section where you can purchase some of Oriental Kopi’s signature items to take home, like the iconic instant Pan Mee, sauces, pineapple tarts, white coffee and more.
