Would you live here, or would it drive you crazy? At first glance, co-living space Canvas House would appear rather empty. But upon further inspection, one would realise that the house is actually completely furnished – it’s just that every bit of its interior is in the same shade of pure white!
Set in a traditional four-storey shophouse in Tanjong Pagar, the co-living space provides shared accommodation and has already hosted a handful of tenants since launching earlier this year.
Designed by local firm Ministry of Design, the shophouse had every inch of its surfaces painted completely white – from the walls to the ceilings and floors, and even covers the vintage collection of furniture.
Pieces of carefully-curated wall decorations lend some texture to the space. Peek-a-boo cut-outs in the walls and the floors reveal snippets of the shophouse’s original brick walls and timber flooring.
With neon art and translucent lamps, the space blends the vintage with aspects of the modern, which the firm describes being “choreographed glimpses into the past”.
