A cosy neighbourhood stop for coffee breaks
Residents and those who work in the vicinity of Club Street are in for a treat – Maxi Coffee Bar is a new coffee joint that just opened in Emerald Green, a residential condominium nestled in one of Chinatown’s hotspots!
The cafe features a simple drink menu that has caffeine staples like Espresso ($3.50), Black Coffee ($4), and Flat White ($4), but also surprises with some refreshing creations of their own. Think Iced Cereal Milk Latte ($7.50), which is exactly what its name states – milk that had cereal soaked in it, complete with shots of espresso.
While the type of coffee beans used might change in the future, the current blend is a mixture of Brazil Fazenda Paraiso and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Konga, which gives a nutty, chocolatey taste and a smooth finish.
Homemade pastries and granola are also available, with a selection of sourdough toasts that include Avo Feta ($8), a creamy spread of smashed avocado and feta cheese topped with toasted pumpkin seeds and chilli flakes, and Miso PB Honey ($6), which boasts their very own roasted peanut butter and red miso combination!
Drop by from 11AM – 1PM daily and you’ll get to enjoy any coffee and toast of your choice for just $9.
The best part of this cafe is most definitely the warm and sincere atmosphere, which might partially be because of how small the space is – there are only 2 counter seats and a bench at the side! Chirpy greetings and mellow conversations were constantly exchanged between the cafe owner and her customers, some of whom lingered for a while longer even though after their takeaway orders were already prepared.
Plus, keep your eyes peeled for updates from them – they have a bar and omakase menu in the making, and plan to serve coffee by day and drinks by night.
