The newest boutique hotel for staycations

Recently opened in March, Ann Siang House is the latest boutique hotel that covers all the necessary bases. At just a 6-minute walk away from Telok Ayer MRT station, it’s conveniently nestled in the middle of cafes, pubs, karaoke bars, and even popular supper spots like Lau Pa Sat.
Plus, with it being a restored shophouse-turned-hotel, there’s a wonderfully grand and nostalgic charm that both the lobby and rooms exude.
Old and new charms to expect from Ann Siang House
Steeped in rich, brown hues and furnished with solid wood, leather couches, and gold fixtures, Ann Siang House’s lobby is grand yet cosy.
It’s also where a pop-up cafe will be at during their launch period, which is currently run by the same people behind Upside Down Coffee Alternatives. Known as Cult Brewers, it specialises in medium blends that are balanced and smooth-tasting, which you can enjoy even if you aren’t a coffee aficionado!
Give the Dirty Harry ($9) a shot when you’re there – it’s an in-house creation that uses chocolate and black matcha powder.
By night, the cafe will transform into The Guild, a bar by Young Master Brewery, who kick-started the craft-brewing scene in Hong Kong. Keep your eyes peeled for craft-brewing workshops when you’re there!

Rooms and amenities
Ann Siang House prides itself on being detail-oriented, with each of its 20 rooms fitted with custom-made furniture and specially-sourced amenities that include shoe polish, bluetooth speakers, and organic toiletries from Europe.
Even the mattresses are from Hypnos, which makes beds for Queen Elizabeth II herself, and there’s free WiFi, Handy smartphones that offer unlimited mobile data, and complimentary minibars that can be refilled upon request at no extra charges.
Book yourself a night at their Deluxe Room (U.P. $280) if you’re looking for a short 2D1N retreat. Spacious yet homey, it’s currently going for just $245 a night as a special opening price.
For those of you who prefer a longer getaway, opt for the Executive Room (U.P. $400), which comes with a bathtub and a kitchenette. Complete with induction cookers, a built-in oven, mini fridge, and pots and pans supplied, you can prep your own meals to feel like you’re really on a holiday overseas!
And if you’re a firm believer of “go big or go home”, spend a night in their Suite ($500), which comes with not just a bathtub and a kitchenette, but also 2 sinks, fur-lined bathrobes, and a balcony of your own. Plus, with it being big enough to fit a whopping 25 people, you’ll be living the dream.

For what Ann Siang House lacks in terms of hotel facilities, like a swimming pool or a gym, it makes up for it with superb service and consideration for its guests.
