1. Illegal Black Market
Yes this is the fondly remembered Sungei Road Thieves Market that closed back in July 2017. Guess what? It’s gonna be back for just four days at Singapore Polytechnic’s Illegal Black Market, organized by entrepreneurship students from the School of Business. Some of the vendors will be retiring soon so this is a good opportunity to purchase old antique items, old currencies, handmade items and many more before they are gone for good. A variety of food vans will also be present at the event where you can grab some grub as you shop. Some of the food vans that will be available are the Travelling C.O.W (only on Thursday), Kombi Rocks, Halal Food Truck Singapore, and not forgetting everyone’s favourite $1 ice cream from the Traditional Ice Cream Uncle! There will be a children and students-run flea as well featuring calligraphy services, pre-loved clothing sold and games booth like Longkang fishing. Pop down this weekend for a relaxed reminiscing time as childhood games, food and memories are given a new lease of life.

2. German Film Festival (GFF)
If anything film intrigues your soul, then come down to the German Film Festival happening this weekend. For a period of 10 days, the 21st edition of Singapore’s largest foreign film festival will be bringing us over 30 films from a range of genre; art-house, comedy, documentary and many more! Audience can expect a completely new insight and perspective of the world through the stories told through films. During the post-show events, filmgoers will also get the opportunity to get-up close and personal with filmmakers Jakob Schmidt (To Be a Teacher), Susanne Regina Meures (Raving Iran) and Club Europe actress Sylvaine Faligant.

3.Escape 56
Back for their fourth edition of their annual warehouse party known for their house and tehno beats, the colllaboration between Jagermiester and the BLACKOUT Agency will be headlined by one of the biggest names and most finest of Germany’s elctronic music scene, Roman Flugel, as part of his two city South East Asian debut tour. Opening acts for the lit night wil be Jonathan Kusuma and Yadin Moha. Known for capturing every moment of the dance music scene in Singapore from club nights to music festivals like Ultra Singapore and ZoukOut, Colossal Photos will be also be featured in their very own exhibition at the warehouse. With their locations changing each year, the hidden warehouse party location for this year is yet to be disclosed. 4.Singapore River Festival 2017
Watch the Singapore River district (Clarke Quay, Boat Quay and Robertson Quay) light up with performances, and art installations in three different themes across the three Quays. Highlights of the nights include The Regatta Rumble where Boat Quay’s waterfront will be transformed into competitions grounds as teams from all over the region gather for Singapore’s first night dragon boat race happening along the Singapore River and the LIT UP party happening at the Clarke Quay fountain square where you can rave the night away with artistic light projections boucing off the floor at a mere early bird ticket price of $8, that will also grant you free entry to F club. Festival promotions also include plenty of discounts and promotions at F&B outlets along the river. Many more activities will also be happening so make your way down to Clarke Quay this weekend for an epic night of music, arts and food!

5. Singapore Writers Festival 2017
Spread out along the upcoming week over a period of 10 days, celebrating 20 years running and counting, this year’s festival theme; Aram (Tamil for ‘Doing good’) will feature various topics such as sexuality in Asian writing, women in Tamil literature and explore the meanings of virtue, conscience and societal values in an ever-changing complex world. Through the years, this event has become a meeting point for writers and a date looked forward to in the cultural calender of Singapore filled with over 100 events of panel discussions, workshops, performances and film screenings.

6. Starker Music Carnival 2017
7 hours of authentic German beer, live music, food, fun and games all happening at the Starker Music Festival this coming Saturday! With German beer games like beer sliding and ring toss and non-stop live music and performances from Taiwan Mandopop artist A-Lin and Local Artists The Facade, Alfred Sim, Jasmine Sokko and many more not to be missed. 7. Panic In The Park
Halloween is not over just yet at Downtown East’s first ever Halloween themed run that will end with a music party in a water theme park! 9. Gastromonth 2017
The Annual Gastromonth 2017 will be taking place from the 30th of October to 26 November, where gourmets in Singapore can take up the chance to dine at Michelin-starred restaurants and delight in specially curated dishes at pocket-friendly prices. 40 over restaurants will be participating this year, including 11 Michelin-starred establishments.
